Marimba Music...CI Style

I stumbled upon this video on YouTube and LOVED IT. It shows CI users learning how to listen to/play music at the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music in Japan. Music sounds very different to a CI user than it does to a typical hearing person.

Did you know that the marimba is the national instrument of Guatemala?

We heard lots of beautiful marimba music when we toured Antigua, Guatemala. There is no other sound like it! Some of you may remember we had it playing at AJ's Welcome Home Fiesta as well.

The beginning of the video shows a girl playing the marimba solo. Toward the middle, two girls play a due on the marimba. Awesome!! (Other instruments are played in the video as well)

Enjoy...Don't forget to stop the music above before playing the video below.

  1. Wow! Great Blog! My son Gavin is deaf. He has one implant and one hearing aid. Bimodal is what The professionals call it. I found your blog off someone else's blog. I was wondering can I add you to my blog and check in on you guys from time to time. It is just nice to know that I'm not the only parent out there and many other parents are going through the same thing.

    check us out!
